Celebrating the power of storytelling, NIDFF brings together filmmakers, artists, and cinephiles from across the globe. Northeast International Documentary and Film Festival aims at bridging the global film industry with that in Northeast India and create a holistic homegrown creative ecosystem. NIDFF is a world-class, international film festival that celebrates the best of global and local filmmaking talent, with a spotlight on the region’s rich cultural heritage.

The objective is to uplift local talent, showcase global films and encourage cultural exchange through film tourism.

Film Categories & Durations

● Short Film – Not exceeding 40 mins
● Feature – Minimum 60 mins
● Documentary Short – Maximum 30 mins
● Documentary Feature – Minimum 31 mins
● Northeast India Special Category – Maximum 30 mins
(Special category for fiction & non-fiction short showcasing tribal culture and heritage of Northeast
India)
● Northeast Indian Filmmaker’s Pavilion – Maximum 40 mins (Category exclusively dedicated to filmmakers from Northeast India)

Deadlines

● Opening Date: 31st January, 2025

● Submission Deadlines :
   Early-bird – 30th June, 2025
   Regular – 28th Sept, 2025
   Extended – 31st Oct, 2025

● Notification Date: 15th Nov, 2025

Festival Rules & Terms

● Films in any language can be submitted (subtitle is compulsory for non-English entries)
● Multiple entries from a single participant can be submitted
● We accept YouTube, Google Drive, Vimeo & Dropbox links
● Jury decision will be final
● Shortlisted entries will be selected for official competition, selection is subject to Jury decision
● All information regarding the festival including selection and awards will be provided on the official website and Facebook page
● Films selected for final round will be screened
● Entry fees are payable through FilmFreeway payment systems and are non-refundable.
● Festival reserves the right to determine eligibility of any work submitted.
● Decision of the Festival committee will be final and binding
● Festival reserves the right to use posters and images of submitted films for promotional activities of the festival

NOTE: Festival will interact with the submitter and/or the producer of the film only. The festival reserves the right of non-disclosure regarding entry and selection status of submitted films, violation of which may result in disqualification from the festival
